They are now using two measurements to describe top tube length. "TT2" is what we commonly understand as horizontal top tube - and it is rather short on this bike. "TT1" is the horizontal tube length you would have if used 25mm set back on you seat. TT1 is stupid and meaningless and it makes the top tune length sound long. Is there any new effective seat tube angle to match TT1? No. So, what is the most important thing about TT1? It is TT one not two and, in case you forgot, it is long!

I had a look at an image of Damian Oton's bike earlier. He doesn't use any set back.

Un saludo
Chris
Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17241896695243345163noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4650400550712092979.post-30509655008625101832014-06-21T18:27:34.206+02:002014-06-21T18:27:34.206+02:00Yes, I'm glad Devinci have given riders the ch...Yes, I'm glad Devinci have given riders the choice of whether to use the FD or not. Santa Cruz were not so kind with the Nomad. But, the 1x11 only Nomad, too, is optimized for 32/34T.

I am wagering that this is not an aberration and we will see more bikes geared like the Nomad. That would make a lot of sense. Racers like Jerome Clementz have stated clearly that they intend to use 32T+ for their 1x11 setup and have no interest in smaller chainrings.

Un saludo
ChrisUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17241896695243345163noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4650400550712092979.post-91460088218507483822014-06-21T17:53:29.861+02:002014-06-21T17:53:29.861+02:00This one is still compatible with a FD, so it need...This one is still compatible with a FD, so it needs to keep a balance between a 28T-30T (percect for 1x11) and a 36T-38T (perfect for 2x10).

Best regards,
Tony.Antonio Osunahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10075236093614144240noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4650400550712092979.post-84634611553429684282014-06-21T17:47:14.428+02:002014-06-21T17:47:14.428+02:00Yes, using 34T this bike will still pedal well wit...Yes, using 34T this bike will still pedal well with about the same kickback (PK) as the Slash. Additionally, the very popular (due to good geometry, components and price) YT Capra, pedaling performance in the optimal 30T is about the same as the Spartan using a 34T. The PK advantage to the Capra in a comparison where the Capra uses the 30T and the Spartan the 34T (i.e. making equivalent pedaling performance a control condition for the comparison) is small - no more than one degree.

I suspect that some bike brands are trying to hold the line on the question of the front cog size that is meant to serve as the default optimal pedaling gear for trail bikes, continuing to favour the 32T which has traditionally served this function. Several bikes have also appeared recently where the 34T also delivers a good pedaling performance but with reduced PK.

Being able to swap chainrings, in an age of 1x11 transmissions, and still get good pedaling performance, while selectively allowing for reduced (or increased) PK as riding condition may demand perhaps gives bikes like this a perceived advantage in terms of versatility.

Un saludo
ChrisUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17241896695243345163noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4650400550712092979.post-47293553669672325772014-06-19T14:58:06.604+02:002014-06-19T14:58:06.604+02:00Menos mal.
