The main pivot is moved a bit rearward compared to the common DW placement i.e. directly above the BB. This should result in a) a slightly rearward axle path initially b) with good AS at SAG c) without the main pivot being quite so high as existing designs d) thus permitting reduced chain growth and kickback deeper into travel. The charts seem to bear this out. <br /><br />Only c) and d) are novel (in a Split Pivot implementation). DW is now using techniques that have been long established in horst-link designs. There is a small price to pay in terms of chainstay length - the Devinci and BH 29er bikes can go shorter again.
